L’attaquant français a rejoint le club en provenance de l’Eintracht Francfort, mais il avait également des propositions de Newcastle ou Manchester United. Pourquoi avait fait ce choix ? Il répond. « Liverpool est champion de Premier League, avec de grands joueurs et une grande histoire. Je pense que c’était un bon choix pour moi et c’est pourquoi j’ai choisi Liverpool car c’était la meilleure option et je voulais venir. »
